TLC Pharmaceutical Standards Ltd. is an independent service company specializing in the custom synthesis of reference standards for biomedical and pharmaceutical research. We supply reference standards to a global client base which includes biotechnology corporations, pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies, clinical and bioanalytical CROs, manufacturers of specialty chemicals, as well as hospitals, universities, and various other research institutions.

1. Synthetic Organic Chemist


We are currently looking for experienced Synthetic Organic Chemists who will be able to independently perform complex and diverse organic synthesis, purifications, and characterization.
  • PhD, MSc in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a similar field.
  • Strong knowledge of organic chemical reactions and mechanisms with the ability to plan and develop complex multi-step synthesis.
  • High proficiency with thin layer chromatography, column chromatography, recrystallization, and other purification methods.
  • Strong knowledge of NMR and Mass spectrum analysis.
  • Can work on multiple different projects of varying lengths and complexity.
  • Keeps a complete and accurate record of all observations, measurements, techniques, procedures, and conclusions in the laboratory notebook.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and works with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work as a team.

2. Analytical Chemist


We are currently looking for an experienced Analytical Chemist, who can independently perform analytical data review, chemical structure identification, and characterization.

Major Responsibilities / Activities:


  • Perform analytical chemical analysis to ensure products meet required standards, using instrumental and wet chemical techniques according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with synthetic chemists to ensure that the product analyses were performed in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining all work areas in a clean and orderly state, disposing of waste, cleaning glass ware and removing expired chemicals / reagents.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance on equipment in Analytical Department laboratories to ensure proper functioning and delivery of consistent and reliable results. Contacts manufacturer of the equipment and arranges for service in event of equipment malfunction.

Qualifications / Competencies:


  • Bachelor of Science degree with major in analytical and/or organic chemistry.
  • Good understanding of basic chemistry, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Karl Fischer (KF), elemental analysis (EA), Ultraviolet (UV), and Infrared (IR).
  • Experience and understanding of standard safety procedures for the laboratory.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Can work independently with strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work as a team.

3. Junior Chemist - Weighing Associate


Key tasks:


  • Inspect, verify and confirm order quantity and product labelling before final packaging
  • Retrieve chemical compounds from inventory
  • Dispense products in precise quantities using the analytical balance and proper dispensing procedures to minimize material loss and prevent cross contamination
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of supplies of materials and equipment required for daily work
  • Maintain documentation of weighing records and orders in clear and organized manner
  • Ensure all chemical compounds are stored appropriately

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor in Science in Chemistry or its equivalents
  • High attention to quality and details
  • Well organized, detail oriented and able to work under strict deadlines
  • Able to work in a team and achieve result as a team player
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Able to adapt and make appropriate judgement to sudden change in daily workflow or work procedure
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Offices programs (especially Word and Excel)
